Kitchen Pendants

I’m finalizing plans this month for a major kitchen renovation beginning in June and one of the design aspects I have been a little hung up on has been the island light fixtures.  I love the simplicity of the Juliska Amalia Column pendants but a friend recently suggested I consider Urban Electrics Chisholm Hall fixtures which you can customize in a variety of hardware and paint finishes.

Why I like the Juliska pendants:  simplicity, elegance of glass and PRICE.  There is really no downside for me here.  I havent been able to find many examples of the pendants in place but I think they look lovely in this gorgeous New Canaan kitchen.

Although I adore the Chisholm Hall pendants and love that they are so customizable I’m worried that they will be a touch overwhelming in my kitchen as the ceilings are more on the shorter side (house is very old).  Also the price is less than desirable… wah wah.  Here is an example of the pendants in a beautiful mint toned green.

Any experience working with either of these fixtures?  If so I would love your feedback.  Is there one that you lean towards a little more than the other?  Let me know what you think!

Weekend Look: NYC

I am en route to New York City for a weekend visit with my best girlfriends.  In between shopping, dining, drinking and laughing, I hope to sneak in some culture and hit up the Met or MoMa… I would love to wear this green silk Etro tunic with black leggings and booties.  We’re expecting great weather this weekend, so I’m leaving my jackets and coats behind.

I love this black long-sleeved DVF dress – I will keep it simple with black heels and some bright accessories.

Untitled #15
…I’m undecided about wearing it with tights or going bare.  I may try something with a pattern!

The ever-so-chic Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo – the well-deserved subject of countless fashion blogs around the world.  In my eyes, she can do no wrong.  I envy how consistently she puts together a chic and simple, yet creative look.  Not only is she a knock-outl, but she has the much coveted ability to effortlessly combine peices from Zara or H&M with those from Hermes or Chloe.  It takes a true fashionista to successfully pull it off every time.

Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Hello & Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog!  This is my first experience with blogging, but having majored in journalism as an undergrad, I have always found it easiest to express myself through the written word (although, I must admit, I’m a little rusty.)  The point of this blog is to create a forum for all things beautiful, unique and otherwise interesting.
