Have you seen these super chic, minimalist maps of great cities around the world? I love the way they look on their own or as part of a gallery wall. I wish I could get my hands on a Boston version of one of these maps!

Hello dear readers….I apologize for my month-long sabbatical, but I do have an excellent reason for taking so much time off. On July 22nd, my beautiful son was born and I have spent just about every second of the past 31 days getting to know everything there is to know about him. One thing I have found particularly amazing is how I can love someone so much that I have known for such a short amount of time. Being a mom is truly an indescribable feeling and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I am so happy to be back and I am feeling more vibrant and alive than ever before. I am craving bright, bold colors and rooms that are filled with energy and life!

Yesterday, I took a spin through the Metropolitan Museum of Art…I assumed I would be in and out, but ended up staying almost all day. Regardless of the museum, my favorite exhibits are always Asian Art, European Paintings (especially Spanish) and Modern & Contemporary Art. I typically skip American, Egyptian, Greek, and African exhibits although yesterday I did browsed through and really enjoyed every minute of it – particularly the Egyptian tombs. Anyway, the Modern & Contemporary Art collection at the Met is fantastic. I could have spent my entire day just taking in this exhibit alone!
I especially loved the Bridget Riley Op Art collection…

It kind of reminded me of Villa alle Scalette

I literally couldn’t take my eye off the work by Roy Lichtenstein

Could you even image having a Lichtenstein-esque painting of a living room in your living room? I’m obsessed.

I have always admired the work of Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollack, but James Rosenquist is a new favorite of mine. I died when I saw this painting

Modern art certainly holds a special place in my heart. I like it because it looks so spectacular inside just about any room in any home. A relatively simple concept can pack a major punch. Everytime I visit a museum, I face the same dilemma… I want to buy every single peice of artwork that I can get my hands on.

Modern Art definitely isn’t for everyone. How do you feel about it?

I know that a lot of designers love this fabulous vintage zebra covered book “I Married Adventure,” but has anyone actually read it? Personally, I couldn’t tell you the first thing about this book, but I am still dying to own it. I think it would make the perfect addition to my current coffee table book collection!

My husband would never agree to anything this feminine…still I can’t help but dream about one day owning a piece of oversized pink furniture or a gallery wall of Chanel fashion prints!

I love this London home designed by Rose Uniacke. Rose is a UK interior designer who specializes in 18th to mid 20th century antiques. I am dying over all the lovely feminine touches in each room.

I love everything about this little sitting nook – this window above the fireplace, the panels on either side and that incredible chandelier!

Gorgeous molding, trimwork, palladian windows…

This is such a pretty and serene piece of artwork. It’s the perfect size and color palette for this room! Although, I would probably ditch the table-cloth…

Last week, I spotted the ultra chic Parisian retreat of L’Wren Scott and Mick Jagger in Vogue and I still cannot get it out of my mind. Despite seeing it on just about every blog from here to Paris since then, I decided I love it enough to share it with all of you. L’wren’s design is flawlessly stylish and every square inch is absolutely perfect. My favorite part of this home is their collection of art work, especially the dots and that great portrait of Mick.
So, in case you missed it last week, this apartment is truly a must-see!

One of the best investment you can make is in a gorgeous, printed, silk scarf. When you buy a scarf you really love, it has endless possibilities…

One of my favorite uses for a scarf that is just too beautiful to wear is to frame it and hang it up as a piece of art in your home.

Or better yet, purchase the Hermes scarf hanging system. Its magnetic, so it won’t damage the fabric.

Scarf print blouses and dresses are also literally everywhere this season…

How do you like to wear (or use) your scarves?

Happy first day of Spring! Although Spring didn’t technically arrive until today, I think it is fair to say it’s been Spring-like in Boston for weeks now. Thanks to the abundance of sun and warmth, I have noticed plenty of pink and yellow tulips and daffodils already sprouting up around town. I’m so happy that Winter is behind us and warm, sunny days are ahead.

I have always loved abstract art. Finding the perfect piece of art for your home is such a great way to tie everything together. I like the way these statement pieces add edginess to an otherwise sophisticated space. Abstract ast also has an approachability that some other types of work don’t necessarily have. I just can’t get enough of it.
