Cochrane Design: Grey, Black & White

I have always been a sucker for greys, neutrals and any kind of muted or understated design.  Recently, I stumbled upon this gorgeous London home that just took my breath away.  I love everything about this design scheme – its calm and warm, yet dramatic and interesting.    I obviously love the grey, black and white theme, but I also really like the unexpected dark blue study as well!

…Oh and “Jack’s Room” is just too good! LOVE IT!

Balmain Paris

I have always been a huge fan of Balmain, but after seeing these beautiful images of the interior of their Paris store, I am truly obsessed.   I love the  extravagant details and elongated lines in each and every corner of their shop.  The whole concept is minimal and classic, while perfectly luxurious.

Designer Crush: Greg Natale

Every now and then I come across an architect or designer that really speaks to me.  When I saw the work of the Aussie mega-talent, Greg Natale, I felt just that! I love how he has the unique ability to use a lot of dark colors while keeping his spaces feeling light and airy.  He also effortlessly combines old and new in order to keep his designs fresh and interesting.

I only wish I saw this nursery before I designed my own! I’m obsessed…

Who is your favorite architect or designer? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Los Angeles Home

One of my guilty pleasures is occasionally tuning into TMZ…although it is generally complete trash, last week they actually reported something pretty interesting.  It turns out Gwyneth Paltrow and her adorable husband Chris Martin purchased a spectacular estate in the Mandeville Canyon area of Los Angeles known as The House of Windsor.  I am completely blown away by all of the lovely details in this home concept home, which was designed by Windsor Smith and decorated by designers from Veranda Magazine.  Click here for a 360° tour of each and every inch of this property!

My favorite part of this home is the lovely silver leaf footed bathtub.  The whole dressing room/bathroom area is just stunning.  Which room do you like best?

Lovely Little London Loft

I really like this London loft.  There is something very interesting about how the white wash brick walls contrast against stainless steel accents. This home has so much texture and character – I would love to call it my own!

These interior window boxes add just the perfect amount of color.  As does the gilded mirror hung above the sink.

I also love the high gloss white ceiling and those great metal chairs around this long white dining table.

The trunk at the end of this bed is gorgeous and that black bed frame is perfect for this space.

And finally…how cute is this bathroom?

Rose Uniacke: UK Design

I love this London home designed by Rose Uniacke.  Rose is a UK interior designer who specializes in 18th to mid 20th century antiques. I am dying over all the lovely feminine touches in each room.

I love everything about this little sitting nook – this window above the fireplace, the panels on either side and that incredible chandelier!

Gorgeous molding, trimwork, palladian windows…

This is such a pretty and serene piece of artwork.  It’s the perfect size and color palette for this room! Although, I would probably ditch the table-cloth…

L’wren Scott’s Parisian Perch

Last week, I spotted the ultra chic Parisian retreat of L’Wren Scott and Mick Jagger in Vogue  and I still cannot get it out of my mind. Despite seeing it on just about every blog from here to Paris since then, I decided I love it enough to share it with all of you.  L’wren’s design is flawlessly stylish and every square inch is absolutely perfect.  My favorite part of this home is their collection of art work, especially the dots and that great portrait of Mick.

So, in case you missed it last week, this apartment is truly a must-see!

Curb Appeal

Sorry for the late post today.  I hit “publish” as I ran out the door this morning, only to realize six hours later that nothing was in fact published!  Anyway, with Spring in the air, many people are out and about manicuring their lawns and ensuring that their landscaping looks perfect.  I noticed that many front doors seem to just blend in with a home, so I always love spotting an exceptional one! I have never had a front door of my own, but when I do, I plan to make mine something special….complete with high gloss paint, a vintage knocker and flower filled planters.

I love beautiful door knockers – especially these vintage styles from Cape Cod Weathervane Company!

One day I will definitely get a monogrammed doormat.  I love these from Pottery Barn

And I think planters by a front door are a must!  South of Market, LolldesignsChristies)

I love New York

I always love an impromptu visit to the big apple.  I am cramming a lot into this little 24 hour visit…First and foremost, I am searching for a summer sublet, but I also had a chance to catch The Book of Mormon and visit some of my favorite New York shops and restaurants.  Often when I visit, I stay with friends, but this time I decided to check out a boutique hotel in the Upper East Side.  I’m staying at The Carlyle and so far I’ve had the perfect hotel experience.  Besides the fantastic service, I love the vintage architecture and luxurious amenities that The Carlyle has to offer.

This is what my suite looks like… feminine with touches of plum, gold and grey. It’s absolutely beautiful!

During this visit, I didn’t have a chance to visit the spa, but I did see it and it’s gorgeous.

I love trying new hotels – which New York hotel is your favorite?

Shine by S.H.O – A peak into Susan Hornbeak Ortiz’s Home

I love seeing the personal homes of great Interior Designers.  I absolutely adore this home by designer Susan Hornbeak Ortiz, the creative mind behind Shine by S.H.O.   Susan shows such restraint in her home.  I like how it is not over-decorated, but still looks incredibly interesting due to unique textures and accents.  Throughout her home, she has incorporated splashes of peacock blue and bold patterns from her own collection for a look that’s minimalistic, yet eclectic.
