I absolutely love a quartzite countertop… Its a great (though expensive) alternative to granite or marble. My favorite thing about quartzite is the soft veining and pale color composition. It’s perfect for countertops, fireplace mantels, bathrooms or tiles, but I love the way it looks in the kitchen.

I absolutely love all these long flowy skirts that are on the market right now. They look adorable with a belt, a blazer or a tailored blouse, but they also look great worn casually with a tee-shirt. They are perfect for any occasion!

As much as I love a colorful home, my heart really belongs to the neutral color palette. Subdued shades of gray are simple, clean and completely timeless. There is also something really calming about this hue. My favorite place for a coat of gray paint is in the kitchen. Especially when paired a dark hardwood floor, white walls and a white granite.

I love this London home designed by Rose Uniacke. Rose is a UK interior designer who specializes in 18th to mid 20th century antiques. I am dying over all the lovely feminine touches in each room.

I love everything about this little sitting nook – this window above the fireplace, the panels on either side and that incredible chandelier!

Gorgeous molding, trimwork, palladian windows…

This is such a pretty and serene piece of artwork. It’s the perfect size and color palette for this room! Although, I would probably ditch the table-cloth…

I love the way a simple graphic pattern looks on one statement piece of furniture in a neutral room. These upholstered chairs pack a major punch in this otherwise understated living room.

I adore this wallpapered kitchen I spotted in Architectural Digest. Phillip Jefferies is one of my favorite wallpaper designers and I think this Moroccan style paper looks so chic paired with simple decor.

Though I usually prefer a simpler interior design, I do love the layering of different prints in this room from designer Meredith Heron’s home.

Which style do you prefer? Do you like just one graphic print per room or Meredith Heron’s print on print?

Last week, I spotted the ultra chic Parisian retreat of L’Wren Scott and Mick Jagger in Vogue and I still cannot get it out of my mind. Despite seeing it on just about every blog from here to Paris since then, I decided I love it enough to share it with all of you. L’wren’s design is flawlessly stylish and every square inch is absolutely perfect. My favorite part of this home is their collection of art work, especially the dots and that great portrait of Mick.
So, in case you missed it last week, this apartment is truly a must-see!

Happy Friday! Once again, this week flew by – where does the time go? Today (and everyday) I am obsessed with Pink. I love it in all shades, but with this lovely weather we’ve been having, it has made me feel particularly fond of hot pink!

Sorry for the late post today. I hit “publish” as I ran out the door this morning, only to realize six hours later that nothing was in fact published! Anyway, with Spring in the air, many people are out and about manicuring their lawns and ensuring that their landscaping looks perfect. I noticed that many front doors seem to just blend in with a home, so I always love spotting an exceptional one! I have never had a front door of my own, but when I do, I plan to make mine something special….complete with high gloss paint, a vintage knocker and flower filled planters.

I love beautiful door knockers – especially these vintage styles from Cape Cod Weathervane Company!

One day I will definitely get a monogrammed doormat. I love these from Pottery Barn

And I think planters by a front door are a must! South of Market, Lolldesigns, Christies)

Both in nature and in interior design, my mom has always loved birds. I think this exposure throughout my life has given me an appreciation for the bird motif that is impossible to shake. Successfully bringing the outside world inside is one of the most sought after effects an interior designer can achieve. Using a bird motif is one easy way to encourage elements of nature into your home. If you aren’t quite ready for a full-on mural of birds, then adding little statues or throw pillows are just as lovely!

A foyer or entryway is arguably the most important space in your home. It is the first space that people see when they enter your home, which means it really sets the tone the rest of it. Do you need some entryway inspiration? Here are some of my favorite foyers…
