Weekend Look: Winter is here!
Posted: December 23, 2011 Filed under: Fashion | Tags: Winter Fashion 2012 Leave a comment »Eventhough I broke out my warmest winter coat weeks ago, winter has officially just arrived. Thankfully Christmas weekend has arrived as well to take my mind off the long cold months that lie ahead!
Does anyone else feel like Fall flew by way too fast?
Trunk Love
Posted: December 22, 2011 Filed under: Accessories for the Home, Interiors Leave a comment »I am currently (ok, always) obssessing over these gorgeous multi-purpose steamer trunks. They are perfect for hiding storing those little floater items that tend to clutter even the neatest person’s home.
I came across this great site, HAM Interiors, that has the most beautiful selection. This canvas monogrammed trunk makes a perfect coffee table.
This larger version works nicely as a console or chest
They also sell the most gorgeous modern lucite ghost trunks
This lucite trunk from Mecox works perfectly as a console behind the this ivory sofa
As does this one spotted on Lonny
I also love the cozy traditional look that a vintage leather trunk can create. This extra long steamer is such a beauty!
I am loving the rustic look of this decorative equestrian gear
And these decorative suitcases I saw on Pretty Stuff
Now, for the glamorous and luxourious…
This Gucci Heritage Travel Trunk is a stunner!
And these travelers by TT Trunk
How in the world do I get my hands on something like this?? It would look absolutely perfect in just about any room in my dream house.
This goyard trunk is even filled with all of my favorite reading material

Christmas Morning
Posted: December 21, 2011 Filed under: Festive/ Holiday, Food | Tags: Christmas Breakfast Inspiration, Christmas Tablescape Leave a comment »This year, I am lucky enough to host my entire family on Christmas morning right here in Boston. Due to my lack of culinary skills, I will require a little help from an undisclosed outside source….However, if I was kitchen-saavy, I would prepare a breakfast that looked a little something like this:
The perfect Christmas breakfast starts with Overnight French Toast. I was literally salivating over this recipe when I spotted it on Quick Dish.
This colorful fruit cup is almost too pretty to eat!
Breakfast isn’t complete without eggs. I love this twist on Eggs Benedict from the Curvy Carrot.
I am a carb-aholic and this croissant recipe just looks too easy.
And for beverages….I would love to try this gorgeous mimosa bar.
Fortunately, I feel more confident in my decorating skills than my cooking skills. I will definitely fill my home with lots of flowers and Christmas decor.

Home of the Week – What’s on the Market?
Posted: December 20, 2011 Filed under: Architecture, Home of the Week, Interiors | Tags: Centre Town Real Estate, Twinight, Versailles Interior Design Leave a comment »This beautiful estate was featured on the cover my recent Sotheby’s mailing and I have been excited all week in anticipation of sharing it. I truly didn’t realize homes like this still existed (especially here in America!) Known as Twinight, this estate was built on six acres of water front property in Centre Island, New York. Its design was based on the Petit Trianon château at the Palace of Versailles. It features brightly painted interiors with rich architectural ornamentation. Each room is more breath-taking than the last.
Click here for all the details from Sotheby’s website!
The current owner, Richard Baron Cohen, is a porcelain collector. His collection is on display in glass cases in the foyer
Check out this close up of the ceiling
I adore this bold green ceiling. Note: more porcelain!
Great pilasters!
I love the grouping of these beautiful botanical prints
This house is named Twinight because of the natural pink and blue light created by the setting sun when it hits the Portuguese limestone exterior. Picture perfect!

Tuf{ted} Love
Posted: December 19, 2011 Filed under: Accessories for the Home, Interiors | Tags: transitional interior design, tufted furniture 7 Comments »Over the years, I have become more and more aware of how much I enjoy tufted furniture. Button tufting has been stylish for ages, but I can’t get enough of the modern twist on this time-tested tradition I keep seeing in the marketplace.
I am obsessed with this Horchow sofa….and its for sale for only $1,799!
I am not only drooling over this sofa, but I cannot get over this amazing octopus triptych. In case you can’t read the caption, it’s a print from an 1826 copper plate etching. It sort of reminds me of the aquatic painting I loved so much in this design by Koo de Kir.
Really liking this tufted headboard, but I’m also going crazy over this wallpaper = gorg.
Pictutre perfect room in the Lennox Hotel
This room by Sarah Richardson is truly my dream room.

Home of the Week – What’s on the Market?
Posted: December 14, 2011 Filed under: Architecture, Home of the Week, Interiors | Tags: Le Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal Luxury Real Estate, Sir Mortimer B. David YHMA Building Leave a comment »When I came across this property, I just couldn’t resist sharing it. This large condo occupies an entire floor in the Sir Mortimer B. David YHMA Building in Le Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal. The layout was designed by the owner in order to promote comfort and a strong relationship with the outdoor spaces. This intention is reinforced by high-placed windows and the absence of window treatments. The thing that I love most about this home though is the seemless blend of traditional form and contemporary design. I love the exposed beams throughout coupled with the high gloss marble floors and counters, accents of gilded Rococo style furniture and brightly colored accent paintings. This whole unit is truly a work of art. Its listed with Sotheby’s

Color Theory
Posted: December 13, 2011 Filed under: Interiors | Tags: Colorful Interior Design, Elizabeth Locke 3 Comments »For those of you that don’t already know, I am currently working towards my master’s degree in interior design at the New England School of Art & Design. Last week was a bit chaotic as I scrambled to complete my final projects for my studio classes and studied like crazy for my final exams in my lecture classes (ie: Codes & Construction and Lighting.) Anyway, today marks my last day of Color Theory and I couldn’t be any happier to safely stow away my thousands upon thousands of hand-mixed, hand-painted color swatches that I have accumulated over the past three and half months. Because of my massive swatch collection and because of my new found mastery in hand-mixed color, I am certain that I will never encounter a moment in my life when I cannot find that perfect shade, tint, tone or hue.
Here are my favorite colorfully designed interiors
This is such a beautiful use of complimentary colors. I love how you can see that gorgeous yellow room through the doorway
Warm orange walls and decor make this bedroom so cozy and inviting
I just cannot get over this stunning colorfully painted ceiling
How can anyone not swoon over these rich pink walls?
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous
