The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From Sidewalk to the Catwalk
Posted: November 30, 2011 Filed under: Art, Fashion, Places to visit | Tags: Dallas Museum of Art, Fashion Exhibit, Jean Paul Gaultier 1 Comment »While in Dallas last week, I had the opportunity to visit the Dallas Museum of Art to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. This fashion exhibit was one of the most inspiring collections of art that I have seen in person in quite a while. As you enter, you will quickly notice that the mannequins have digital, screened faces that talk quietly in French or sing in unison with the mannequin beside it. As you move throughout the exhibit, you will see JPG himself having a conversation with his own reflection. It is both realistic and eerie. In another room there are mannequins moving along a conveyor belt to portray a runway. Aside from the exceptional presentation, JPG’s collection is breath-taking. Overall, this exhibit is a MUST-SEE!

Home of the Week – What’s on the Market?
Posted: November 29, 2011 Filed under: Architecture, Home of the Week, Interiors | Tags: San Francisco Real Estate, transitional interior design, Yellow and Orange Interior Design Leave a comment »This San Francisco estate seems to go on forever. Built in 1910 and fully restored in 2002, this mansion boasts 3 rooftop terraces, 6 fireplaces, 2 kitchens, a basketball court and a commercial speed elevator, all of which are in pristine condition. It is located in the prime neighborhood of Pacific Heights and has views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, and the city skyline. I love the orange and yellow decor and the playful basement area. It is currently listed with Redfin Realty.
I *love* the use of yellow and orange throughout!
Beautiful coffered ceiling
The detail on this crown moulding is stunning. The detail on this fireplace is exquisite too.
Check out this gorgeous herringbone fireplace!

Post-Thanksgiving Dream Vacation: The Greenbrier
Posted: November 28, 2011 Filed under: Interiors, Places to visit | Tags: Colorful Interior Design, Southern Interior Design, The Greenbrier Leave a comment »I had such a wonderful Thanksgiving break. However, sometimes after all of the activity of going on vacation, I feel like I need another vacation. After dining on boatloads of cranberries, potatoes, turkey, and pie I would love to escape to a spa for some true R & R. The Greenbrier in West Virginia would be my dream vacation right about now…

Posted: November 21, 2011 Filed under: Interiors | Tags: seafoam interior design, transitional interior design, Turquoise, turquoise interior design 1 Comment »I love the calming effect of this gorgeous sea foam-y turquoise that has become a staple in the design world. It looks so beautiful when used as paint, decor accents or major pieces of furniture.
Turquoise looks great with neutrals, but I also love it when paired with a bold color like orange or red.

Home of the Week – What’s on the Market?
Posted: November 20, 2011 Filed under: Architecture, Home of the Week, Interiors, Places to visit | Tags: Big Sky Montana, Ski resort, Yellowstone Club Leave a comment »There are so many selling points for this property that I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with a little background on the Yellowstone Club. Located in Big Sky, Montana, YC is the world’s only private ski and golf resort. Every inch of this club is in pristine condition with every amenity you could possibly imagine. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive and the members are down to earth and laid back, which creates a real sense of community. In addition, because this is a private ski resort, you will never wait in line at a chair lift.
This property is designed by Reid Smith Architects and inspired by the French country mountain homes found in the Alps. It is a technologically advanced ‘smart home,’ with two specialized air purification systems, humidification and heat recovery ventilation systems, which ensure a completely allergy-free atmosphere and an easy adjustment to the altitude change. It has a stadium seating home theater, a massive children’s playroom and a temperature controlled wine cellar. Another special quality is the unique powder room boasting Rojo Alicante marble.
Visit the Yellowstone Club website for more information on this property.
Western Union: Lauren Bush + David Lauren Wedding Photos (Just Released in Vogue)
Posted: November 19, 2011 Filed under: Fashion, Weddings | Tags: David Lauren, Lauren Bush, Ralph Lauren, Wedding inspiration, Western Wedding 1 Comment »Vogue has just released a few wedding photos of America’s Royal Couple – Lauren Bush and David Lauren. I am literally dying over her stunning gown and the breath-taking backdrop of their nuptials.
She is SO BEAUTIFUL in this lace dress and headpiece!… and he looks equally as dapper. Both dressed in Ralph Lauren.
What a spectacular Western-style horse-drawn carriage. It transported the bride along the Lauren family’s Double RL ranch in Telluride, Colorado.
The Rocky Mountains make a gorgeous backdrop for an impromptu dance
A few of their engagement photos taken in Montauk
…I’m loving his denim jacket!
I can’t wait to see the rest of their wedding photos!

How to: Beautiful Bookcases
Posted: November 17, 2011 Filed under: Accessories for the Home, Art, Interiors | Tags: Book, book cover, Bookcase, Built-in shelving decor, How To 1 Comment »There is nothing more beautiful in a home then a lot of built-in bookshelves. However, shelving can become a hassle if you are stuck on how to fill them in a lovely way. When styling your bookshelves, start by thinking about a theme or color palette you want to use. Books are the obvious place to start – they can be placed upright or laying flat, but look best when they are grouped according to size. I also feel that books look best when they color coordinate with each other.
This rustic look by Restoration Hardware is easy to re-create. Just rip the binding and cover off your books and wrap them with a piece of string. Yes, it’s a bit destructive, but it looks so chic.
If you prefer a more refined and intentional look, then the key is to cover your books (all or some) with paper or fabric. It is a really easy way to create continuity within your design scheme.
These lovely bookcases and bookshelves are great inspiration
As you can see here, not all of the books have to be covered
I covered a few of my own books today and it only took about 10 minutes
If you want to spruce it up, print out an image and then cut it to fit the binding of your books:
After your books are covered and placed, begin adding large items (click on the image for the link.)
Finally, add smaller pieces to fill any voids an make your bookshelf look complete (click the image for the link.)

Cape Town
Posted: November 16, 2011 Filed under: Fashion | Tags: Casual Capes, Casual Fall Fashion, Dressy Capes, Fall fashion 2011, Inexpensive Capes Leave a comment »Lately, I have been resisting the temptation to invest in a new Cape. I have a simple black one I purchased in London almost three years ago, but the new breed of capes are sleeker, lighter and more feminine than ever, making it oh-so hard to resist. Not only is this trend is still huge, but this time of year is definitely the perfect time to sport one.
I have my eye on these two (L: Loro Piana, R: J Crew)
